What is the Tarot ? I have been trying to find out for the last thirty years. Is it a means of seeing the future ? Does it tell of a journey - everyman's way in the world ? Does it allow us to connect with our higher self to get answers to certai questions ? Is it a collection of secret knowledge needing a key to unravel it ? What is it ?

FUN WITH THE PENDULUM

What is a Pendulum? A Pendulum is any weight hung on a string or chain. It can be a ring or a stone tied with thread. Pendulums can be bought from New Age shops or you can make your own.

What do you do with this pendulum? You dowse with it. What is dowsing? Dowsing is a method of connecting to your unconscious self and a way of finding answers to things that cannot be answered using our rational mind.

How do I begin? You will have to 'tune' in to your pendulum. This can be done by holding it with your thumb and forefinger by the string (Fig.1). Now ask it to show you a 'Yes' answer. Watch for some movement of the pendulum. It may move in a circular motion clockwise. Now ask it for a 'No' answer. Say:"Show me a 'No' answer." It may move in a circular motion anti-clockwise. You have now established the simplest dowsing movement for your pendulum. Test the accuracy of your dowsing by asking it questions that you know the answer to. eg. "Is my name ......?" (Yes/No) "I am .... years old?" (Yes/No). If you are satisfied with its accuracy you can now ask it any question requiring a Yes/No answer. Note sometimes it will not respond with a clockwise motion for 'Yes' or an anit-clockwise motion for 'No'. Mine gives an anti-clockwise motion for 'Yes' and a left and right swinging motion for 'No'. Test for your response.

The next step is to construct a grid on paper to use with your pendulum. Draw a grid like what is shown in Fig. 2. Place the pendulum above the intersection of the north/south and east/west lines. Ask a test question to check for accuracy and you are on your way to asking divining questions. You can create many more grids for spacific purposes. Have fun with your pendulum.

Dowsing for Lost Objects: When I misplace an object I ask the pendulum to search for it. First I will ask a YES/NO question. Start in a room in your house. Ask the pendulum - "Is my ring in this room?" If the answer is NO I go to another room. Ask the question again. If 'YES' then ask it where it is. You will be surprised that it will start swinging in the direction the lost object can be found. Happy hunting.

Food Testing A friend of mine uses it to test whether some food is good for her or for its freshness. She holds it over the food and ask "Is this food good for me?" or "Is this fresh ?" It will respond either 'Yes' or 'No'. Try testing the food you eat.
